We generally advise our guests and visitors to travel by air to Porto Airport.

On arrival at Porto Airport, the distance by road (motorway) to Vila Real is approximately 100 km.

To get from the Airport to Porto city centre: take the metro to Campo 24 de Agosto station (< 45 minutes at a cost of around 2€), and then the Rede Expresso bus from Porto to Vila Real (1h.15m at a cost of about 10€). The way to bus station is well indicated in the metro station.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi or shuttle to the Porto Rede Expresso bus station (20 minutes at a cost of about 20€) or rent a car to drive directly to Vila Real. A taxi (one way) will cost in the region of 100-120 euros.

On arrival at the bus station in Vila Real, if your hotel is in the city centre, you can walk: the Miraneve is very close to the bus station and the Douro Village and the Miracorgo are only 5 minutes away. If your hotel is on the outskirts, take a taxi either from the bus station or from the taxi rank down the hill on Avenida Teixeira Araújo: the drive to Timpeira will take only 5 minutes (around 5€), while the Quinta do Paço and Quinta de S. Martinho are both close to the Mateus Palace (10 minutes; < 10€).

Participants will be divided into two groups, each visiting two of the following estates: Quinta Bomfim, Quinta de Ventozelo, Quinta do Seixo, and Quinta das Carvalhas. The thematic focus will be ‘Challenges and innovations to mitigate climate change and labour shortages. Discussions will be followed by a wine tasting.

1:30 p.m. Boat trip on the Douro River with lunch. An opportunity for networking, and enjoying more of the Douro’s landscape and heritage.

4:00 p.m. Visit to the Douro Museum – the history of the Douro’s wine, culture and heritage.
